COWBOY TESTIMONIES

CORY WALL

PROFESSIONAL RODEO COWBOYS ASSN ~ 2009 BULLFIGHTER OF THE YEAR!

My name is Cory Wall, and I am a professional bullfighter. I rodeo all over the country and get to use rodeo as a tool to let people know that God loves them and He has provided a way for them to be in right standing with Him.

My testimony is a little different than most people. I was raised in a good Christian home and went to a great church since the day my mother brought me home from the hospital. The closest people in my life went to our church and one of my best friends was my Pastor's kid. So, I had good direction for my life from the very start.

As I entered high school, I was becoming a very competitive athlete and was often called upon to pray before various events. It seemed as though everyone knew that I was a Christian.

With a strong conviction in my heart and high goals athletically, I never gave into the peer pressure to party or drink alcohol. Often times my so called friends would try to make me feel less popular since my lifestyle was so different from theirs, but I knew deep down that they had a respect for the decisions I made. Things didn't change much in college and on into my 20's, because I kind of did my own thing in spite of what my friends thought.

Even though I never drifted away from God, I still had some mess ups along the way, but He was always there to forgive me and take me back.

I had a lot of plans for my life but it seemed like there was always a dead end at the end of every road. I knew there had to be something more than just rodeoing, working and hanging around the same people.

In 1989 I went to a Sankey rodeo school and there I met Lyle Sankey and Cody Custer. I was truly amazed by their faith in Jesus and yet they were world class rodeo athletes. I could really listen to what they had to say because I could relate to them and I had a great deal of respect for them.

A few years later I felt that I needed more direction in my life and felt on the inside that I needed to go to Bible school... so I loaded up and headed to Oklahoma. Those were 2 of the best years of my life, and also 2 of the hardest years of my life.

I didn't really have anyone around me who had the same common interests. I began to pray that God would send someone across my path that with the same common interests... someone that I could become close to with. A short time later, I met Tony and Cindy Shoulders.

Tony and Cindy were starting to go into the ministry full time, and I tried to help in any way I could. They were a real encouragement to me and when I needed anything they would always believe God with me.

I later started to fight bulls at PRCA rodeos working for Southern Rodeo Co, and then for Neal Gay at Mesquite Championship Rodeo in Mesquite, TX. This has truly been something that the Lord wanted me to do. God has been faithful and has showed me how He wants me to use my bullfighting to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

As I look back over my life, I can see how God has kept me from so much worldly stuff so that I can share with young people that you don't have to do things the world's way first in order to appreciate God's way. God has a plan for everyone... why waste time doing things your way?

God bless you,

Cory Wall
